I am using Adobe Acrobat pro XI. Words appear correct for Arabic (right-to-left language), but after exporting to an Excel sheet, words appear left-to-right instead of right-to-left.
Is there a way in Excel or Acrobat to fix this?
- I think the problem may come from Adobe, since they have encrypted file so you can't modify them, all their data writen in are not considered as text. If you open a pdf in a note pad, you will have a hard time getting the information you need.Well, once you open the pdf with Excel, Excel thinks that you are trying to enter data and not text, so it put the 'text' on right side like when you try to add numbers in the sheet.I can't help you more, sorry.
- it has something to do with internationalization setting on your computer
- I actually test this at the moment, but it sounds like all you need to do is change the sheet direction to right-to-left (File>Options...Advanced, click the 'International' tab and change the default direction), or, if this applies only to some of the text, highlight the relevant cells and change the paragraph direction (using the inverted P button).
- I have the same problem.
If you change the default direction, it changes it for the whole spreadsheet. I don't see the inverted P button - is it possible that it only exists in Word?- The paragraph direction icon *should* be there. If it isn't, you should be able to add it by clicking on the Office button (round icon in top left corner), choose Options=>Customize=>All Commands. Scroll down to 'Right to left document', click Add, OK and you should now have a button next to the office button.
- Hmm...Do you have the Arabic version of Acrobat Pro 11.0? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Acrobat#Specific_features_for_Arabic_and_Hebrew_languages.It might just be a matter of using a little utility on the Excel or Office CD called ConvText. It looks like you are supposed to export the data as text from Adobe and then convert it to Arabic Windows code page 1256 coding with ConvText and then you can import it correctly into Excel. See the two links below. ConvText may only be available on versions of Excel that support right to left languages.http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/about-right-to-left-language-features-HP005262727.aspx
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/convert-bidirectional-text-files-to-and-from-ansi-HP005262676.aspxYou can apparently download convtext.exe from here: http://www.gmalik.com/o2k/PFILES/MSOFFICE/OFFICE/CONVTEXT.EXEYou also need SCP32.DLL ( ) and BIDI32.DLL (http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/B/BIDI32.DLL/-/download.html). I downloaded all three and the GUI for the little tool started up. - The ExportPDF service does not support Arabic.
